When to use a round robin

Use a round robin when:

How many games are needed?

For a single round robin, use this formula:

Number of games = teams × (teams - 1) ÷ 2

Odd number of teams

If you have an odd number of teams, one team will sit out each round. That is called a bye. A good schedule rotates byes so no team gets an unfair advantage or disadvantage.
