How the Schedule Generator Works
Learn how the free tournament schedule generator creates schedules, handles teams, courts, byes, breaks, and printable output.
Inputs
The main inputs are:
- Team names
- Tournament format
- Number of courts or fields
- Start time
- Game length
- Transition or break time
- Optional pools
- Optional playoff rounds
Schedule logic
For round robin, the tool creates pairings so each team plays every other team once. If there is an odd number of teams, the tool adds a rotating bye.
For pool play, teams are grouped into pools first. The tool then creates round-robin schedules inside each pool.
For courts and fields, games are assigned across available spaces. The tool warns when a team has too many back-to-back games or when the event duration may be unrealistic.
What the tool does not do
- It does not replace sport-specific rules.
- It does not guarantee compliance with league or association requirements.
- It does not know venue restrictions unless you enter them.
- It does not manage official registration or payments.
Privacy and saving
No account is required. Team lists and schedules are saved in your browser through local storage.

Always review the generated schedule before sharing it. Check rest time, court assignments, start/end time, byes, and playoff advancement rules.
